Salaam Namaste....my first proper Bollywood film and it was pretty good

Well I’ve been here over a month and I have to say that I don’t miss home that much. The one thing I have found is that I do feel slightly left out. Everyone’s life is going on the way it did before I left and I now feel out of the loop. That being said being here has made me appreciate things.

Things like the fact that I can attend 6 classes in a semester of English and still get a C+. I have found that classes here aren’t as bullshitable as the ones at Ryerson. I have also noticed that I have a better choice of classes back home. That being said Australian Studies is awesome…we watched Muriel’s Wedding in class (If you’ve never seen it you MUST!!).

I have also discovered that I enjoyed going to school and working. I would sometimes be annoyed that I was tired and I didn’t have enough time to do homework but I will be honest I actually miss work. And while I know if I was home I wouldn’t be working much now anyway I do still kind of miss work.

All of that being said I do love it here. I have lucked out with 6 of my roommates (there are 2 that are never here so they really aren’t part of the group). Because of two of them I now have a new genre of film that I am liking…and “what is that?” you might ask well it’s Bollywood. There is a station here that on Sunday nights plays Bollywood films and I have watched every single one that has been on.

What makes it even more amusing for me was when I went to the relatives of one of my roommates they all knew me as the Canadian girl who like Bollywood films. So instead of being exposed to lots of Australian culture I am being exposed to Indian and also Mauritian culture (BECAUSE MAURITIUS DOES EXIST). I am loving that fact. Other exchange students are getting into Australian culture and while I will go to an Aussie Rules game and have eaten Tim Tam’s I am happy that I am experiencing new things.

Also in 2 weeks I have a 2 week easter holiday and for the 1st week I am going to do a tour of Western Australia….expect shit loads of pics and I will probably have stories. I will probably post once more before I leave on the trip.

Also I tried another flavour of smoothie and I will say it again the Aussies take smoothies to a whole other level that you can’t get in Canada. They are better than Booster Juice and cheaper. Also Gelato is really good.
Oh and as for kickboxing…the course got cancelled the day before it was supposed to start…how nice is that (sarcasm)
